Little Thumbnail Publicity

A couple months back I submitted one of our wedding photos (courtesy of one soon-to-be Mrs. Helen Zawadzki-Van der Osten - danke) to boston.com for fun and posterity. Well, the photo was put up on the website, but to our delight - they chose our photo as the thumbnail on the wedding page for the "Reader Photos" segment. Pretty "sweet" as we Bostonians say and I think a sign of good things to come this year for the Coates family. Here is the link, though I am not sure how long this will remain a valid news bulletin:

Scroll to the middle of the page and you shall find out smiling, nuptial faces. We are also featured around the 30s of the feature photos if you want to see the full spot.

Woah... it has be awhile

Quite the delay between posts I am embarrassed to say, but I guess between the holidays, skiing and the mini vacations in January, there has not been much down time for the old writing hobby. At least we come bearing some pretty amazing news and the waiting was not all for nothing.

We have officially booked our trip over to Asia for this coming summer! An eight week journey through Southern Asia which we both have been dreaming of for quite some time. One of the goals Matt and I had set for ourselves was to travel the world. I think this is a goal many people have, but as many find out, it can be hard finding the time and resources to make large trips abroad happen.

Our original plan had us up and leaving our daily routines for a life on the "road"; traveling to various destinations for 6 months to a year. When I landed the job in Mattapoisett though, it became a little more difficult to think of leaving and then coming back to square one all over again upon our return. We reached a conclusion that taking advantage of the summer break would be a great way to relieve some that travel itch and visit some our most sought after destinations. Not the perfect solution, but definitely one I think we can live with and be very grateful for.

Our trip will start with flights to Tokyo and things are a bit up in the air from there at the moment. We have laid our a tentative itinerary:

June 24 - Land in Tokyo
June 24-29 - Tokyo/Japan

Besides the vaccines, there is nothing about this trip we are not excited about. It is the journey of lifetime and we cannot wait to share the experience together.
